Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has claimed that MLAs belonging to the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena faction will be disqualified following the upcoming hearing in the Supreme Court.
Speaking to reporters, Raut expressed confidence that the apex court's proceedings on the long-pending disqualification petitions would result in action against the rebel legislators. He alleged that the legal battle over the 2022 Shiv Sena split was nearing a decisive stage and maintained that the Constitution and anti-defection law would ultimately prevail. Raut also criticised the delay in resolving the disqualification petitions, stating that justice had been postponed for too long. He said the outcome of the Supreme Court hearing would have significant political implications for Maharashtra and the Shinde-led faction.
The disqualification petitions stem from the 2022 rebellion led by Eknath Shinde, which resulted in the split of the Shiv Sena and the fall of the then Uddhav Thackeray-led government. The matter has remained under judicial scrutiny, with multiple legal proceedings continuing in the Supreme Court.
There has been no immediate response from the Shinde-led Shiv Sena to Raut's latest remarks.
