The health department has stepped up surveillance in Ulhasnagar after 30 suspected cases of dengue were reported in the city, raising concerns over the spread of mosquito-borne diseases during the monsoon.
A meeting was held to review the current situation of communicable diseases in the city. Health officials discussed the suspected dengue cases and assessed measures required to prevent further transmission.
The health department has been instructed to strengthen preventive measures and keep a close watch on areas where suspected cases have been detected. Officials are also focusing on mosquito-control measures and creating awareness among residents about precautions against dengue.
Dengue is primarily transmitted through the bite of infected Aedes mosquitoes, which can breed in stagnant water. During the monsoon, water accumulation in residential and public areas can increase mosquito breeding and consequently the risk of infection.
Authorities have urged residents to avoid allowing water to accumulate in and around their homes and to take appropriate precautions to prevent mosquito breeding.
With 30 suspected cases now under observation, the health department is closely monitoring the situation and is expected to intensify preventive measures across Ulhasnagar to contain any potential outbreak.
