People should realise their responsibility: Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray

Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray on Friday said that people living in Mumbai should realise their responsibility towards their city.

Every year, Mumbai faces heavy rains due to its geographical location and when the city is flooded, we ask that what Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is doing, but don't we have our duties and responsibilities as Mumbaikars?” Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray.

Speaking at an All India Local Self Government Institute (AILSGI) programme, Thackeray informed that this institute teaches citizens to perform their duties and be responsible towards their city.

We should be taught about being responsible in order to keep our city clean and this institute does that. Every state should have its branch,” Shiv Sena chief expressed.

In the event, the students of AILSGI institute were honoured with their graduate degrees. Including the President of the institute, Ranjit Chavan, Industries Minister Subhash Desai, Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar and Former Commissioner Jairaj Phatak were also present at the graduation ceremony.

Mayor Mahadeshwar said that along with training and education, learning about ethical principles is also important. “With training, you’ll have money and jobs but if ethics are involved, an individual becomes a responsible person."
