Senior Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar, who is allegedly angry with being allocated less important portfolios, on Wednesday remained absent from the special session of Maharashtra legislative assembly called at Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai to resolve the problems being faced by the farmers.

On Tuesday, the former Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Maharashtra Legislative assembly had also missed the first cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. It is being said that Wadettiwar was expecting energy or public works. However, the Congress leader was given three portfolios of Other Backward Class (OBC), Khar Land Development and Earthquake Rehabilitation.

Wadettiwar, who hails from Vidarbha region, was given charge of the portfolios on December 30 along with others. However, since then Wadettiwar has reportedly skipped all the meetings. According to The Indian Express, a Congress leader informed that Wadettiwar felt that as he was the LoP for a few months during the previous Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government, he should be given a good portfolio.

Wadettiwar was elected as the LoP in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly after senior Congress leader Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil joined BJP.
