Aditya Thackeray-led Yuva Sena win four seats in Senate elections with more than 10,000 votes

The most awaited Senate elections results were declared on Wednesday where Shiv Sena’s student wing Yuva Sena was declared the ultimate winner. They claimed the throne by winning four seats in Senate elections. 

Yuva Sena candidate Sheetal Sheth won from the women's constituency, Nikhil Jadhav from the SC constituency, Shashikant Zore won from the DT/NT category and Dhanraj Kohachade won from the ST category. All four candidates won by more than 10,000 votes.

The first Senate meeting is likely to take place on March 30 and 31 to discuss varsity's budget provisions.

40 per cent voting took place on the day of voting and the counting began from Tuesday which continued until Wednesday night.

  • Sheetal Sheth (Yuva Sena) – 18,308 votes
  • Shalaka Mithbaonkar (ABVP) – 2,684 votes
  • Nikhil Jadhav (SC) (Yuva Sena) – 18,088 votes
  • Dhanraj Kohachde (ST) (Yuva Sena) – 18,767 votes
  • Jitendra Mehre (ST) (ABVP) – 2,366 votes
  • Sashikant Jhore (DTNT) – 18,353 votes
  • Rajan Kolambkar (Backward class) – 18,000 votes

The much-awaited Senate elections took place on March 25, 2018, where 62,000 registered graduates from Mumbai University gave their votes to elect their representatives for the Senate.
