The much-awaited Senate elections will take place on March 25, 2018 where 62,000 registered graduates from Mumbai University will vote to elect their representatives in the Senate. In order to reach out to the voters, MU has put up a list of voters on its website as well.

Meanwhile, the student wings of all major political parties and organisations believe that there is a possibility of bogus voting, hence, they are demanding to MU that they should strengthen the police security at voting centres. The BJP-led Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) believes that instead of graduates, residents will be made to vote if there is no proper police protection at voting centres, leading to bogus voting.

The organisations and students-wing have also demanded that the MU should maintain proper seating arrangement for candidates, ballot box should be sealed post-voting, shoot the video of the same and there should be some officials who will be placed to troubleshoot the voters' woes.

MU officials said that they have taken all precautionary measures in order to avoid any untoward incident to take place. Out of 53 voting centres, the inspector will be placed at every two to three voting centres along with 20-22 college officials.

Chancellor, Vice- Chancellor, and registrar should visit the voting centre and MU officials should see to it that the voting which takes place should be transparent and unbiased,” Aniket Ovhal, Member, ABVP
