Audit Reports for 191 FOBs and 89 ROBs Still Not Submitted to CR by IIT-B

Central Railway doesn't assign any third party to inspect railway bridges and it is generally carried out by railway engineers before and after the monsoon season. However, after Andheri's Gokhale bridge collapse last year, railway assigned the task of inspecting 191 Foot Over Bridges (FOB) and 89 Road-Over-Bridges (ROB) to Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay.

The inspection was carried out between August 2018 and March 2019 and the railways had paid ₹1.68 crores i.e. 50 per cent of the total amount of ₹3.37 crores.

However, an RTI query revealed that IIT-B has still not submitted its report. After the reports are submitted, the authorities can take action for commuters' safety accordingly.

Notably, Galgali called this issue "unprofessional" and appealed to Railway Minister Piyush Goyal to make the online safety audit report public by uploading it online.
