CR Launches Over 2,000 Summer Special Trains to Meet Holiday Travel Demand

The Central Railway has announced the operation of 2,012 summer special trains this year to handle the expected surge in passenger traffic during the peak summer travel season. These services will connect major cities including Mumbai, Pune, Solapur, Nashik Road, and Nagpur to various destinations, ensuring smoother travel for vacationers and daily commuters alike. In addition, the railway plans to run around 120 more trains on demand, with bookings for some services already open to passengers.

Among the key offerings, a weekly special train service between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Madgaon has been scheduled for 18 trips, split equally in both directions. Train No. 01171 will depart CSMT every Thursday at 12:20 AM from April 16 to June 11, reaching Madgaon at 3:15 PM. Its return service, Train No. 01172, will leave Madgaon at 4:00 PM every Thursday, arriving at CSMT at 3:45 AM, covering 9 trips each way.

Similarly, another weekly summer special service between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and Madgaon will operate 18 trips from April 17 to June 12. Besides these scheduled trains, the railway will also run 14 on-demand special trains from April 3 to April 16 and 16 summer special trains from April 17 to May 2, catering to growing passenger demand during the holiday season.

These measures are aimed at reducing congestion on regular trains, improving connectivity to popular tourist destinations like Goa, and providing travelers with more options during the busy summer period. Commuters are encouraged to book in advance and plan their travel according to the special train schedules.
