Dubai-Mumbai becomes busiest International route with more than 2.5 million passengers in 17-18

During the FY 2017-18, the Dubai-Mumbai air route witnessed the most number of passengers travelling. A total of 2.5 million passengers journeyed by the route where the passengers consisted mainly of migrant workers, according to the data released by the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

The route got to the top position in a list of top 10 international destinations which are linked to Indian cities by domestic as well as foreign air carriers. The data further revealed that half of the seats for international destinations were booked for the United Arab Emirates during FY 2017-18.

The second to the list was Dubai-Delhi route with about two million passengers whereas the third on the list was Dubai-Kochi with one million passengers.

The Mumbai-Delhi route managed to top the list with more than seven million passengers amongst the domestic flights during the previous financial year. The Mumbai-Delhi route was followed by the Bengaluru-Delhi route with a little more than four million passengers and Bengaluru-Mumbai route trailed on the third spot with close to four million travellers in the domestic sector.
