CSIA runway to be partially shut between November 2019 and March 2020

The main runway of Mumbai International Airport will be shut for eight hours except on Sundays and other selected days from November 4, 2019, to March 28, 2020. The selected days include Christmas and New Year. Moreover, the runway would also be open for operations throughout the day on January 15, February 19 and 21, March 10 and 25 on account of public holidays and festivals. As per report, authorities have to carry out the re-carpeting work, and this move has been taken keeping the same in mind.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) which is also the second busiest airport after Indira Gandhi Airport in Delhi has two runways. Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) released a statement stating that the re-carpeting which was postponed owing to the prolonged monsoon in Mumbai.  

They further stated that as per the revised date, RWY 09/27 will not be available for aircraft operations from November 4, 2019, up to March 28, 2020, 6 days of the week, from Mondays to Saturdays between 09:30 hours IST to 17:30 hours IST, due to major rehabilitation and re-carpeting work.
