After Day Four of the nationwide strike by truck operators, the effects of the protest have been mixed. Under the support of All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC), the transporters declared the strike for an indefinite period from July 20, with demands to the government to include diesel under GST in order to bring their prices under control, still unfulfilled.
Amongst several miscellaneous demands, AIMTC strongly called for an intervention from government. However, even after four days of the strike, there has been no attempt of conversation from the government. The transport organisation claimed support from over 9.3 million trucks across the country.

Besides the demand to bring diesel under GST, AIMTC also claimed that the toll collection system should be improved. They explained that due to the deficiencies of the toll collection system, there is waste of fuel and time which has led to a yearly loss of ₹1.5 lakh crore approximately. Alongside, the transport organisation is asking for a reduction in indirect taxes, providing national permits to all the buses and trucks and eliminating the system of delivery of goods directly to the port.
