Matheran’s mini train derails again

Matheran is one of Mumbai’s renowned hill stations which attracts several nature-lovers as well as trekkers every year. However, in the past few years, the tourist spot has faced several problems and has been trying to sustain itself.

Therefore, in order to restore its tourists, the hill station revamped its iconic mini train and also added an air-conditioned (AC) coach to the toy train on December 8.

But just a day later on December 9, Sunday, the train got derailed. The train got derailed at 4:45 pm on Sunday during its Jummapatti-Neral journey. Luckily, no passenger on board was hurt.

The train got derailed near Neral station and more than 85 passengers were present on board. However, this is the second time this month, that the mini train has been derailed which leads us to the question about how safe is the toy train for its passengers.

While the mini train is one of the iconic symbols and a popular portion of the hill station, the regular accidents have hugely tarnished the toy train’s image.
