Mumbai Metro to have a first class car among other facilities for commuters

As Mumbaikars are aware of the first and second class classification in Mumbai local, prepare for the introduction of a first class in Mumbai Metro too. Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) confirmed that there will be a first class in the upcoming metro project. Alike Chennai metro, a metro car will be reserved for the first class.

MMRDA is working directly on the construction of different metro lines across Mumbai. Metro 2-A and Metro 2-B, and the work for Metro-7 has already started while the construction of Metro-4, 5, and 6 will be initiated soon.

The requirement of the first class car in the metro is to comfort and avoid inconvenience to the people who are willing to pay more. Of the six cars in the metro, one will be labelled as first class and it will assure to reserve seats for the passengers if booked before their journey. However, in order to book the seats, the passengers will have to pay a higher rate than the normal ticket price.

MMRDA has hinted that the undergoing metro project in the suburbs is going to provide better facilities than the current metro line. Many facilities - like Wifi, mobile charging spot, push back seats in the compartment – will be provided in the metro.
