On Wednesday morning, during a test run at Wadala depot, a monorail train tilted, officials said, adding that there were no passengers inside the train. No injury was reported in the incident, officials added. The accident was reported at 9 am and two crew members were safely rescued from the monorail, a fire brigade official said. So far, the Maha Mumbai Metro Rail Operations Limited has not shared any official statement on the incident.
The train was undergoing signaling trials when the incident occurred and it suffered some damage, as per primary information. The officials added that the monorail staff was at the site.
Due to the recurring technical snags, monorail passenger services were suspended from September 20 until further notice for system upgradation work.
The Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has formed a committee to carry out a detailed investigation into the recurring technical glitches that have disrupted monorail services. The inquiry will also cover the incidents on August 19 and September 15, during which hundreds of passengers were stranded in two separate monorail trains at different locations.
