On the occasion of Diwali, passengers will be able to travel cashless from ST with the travel discount smart card touted to be launched on the eve of Diwali. Also, the ST Corporation has decided to start extra trains for passengers from November 11 to 22.
As per reports, ST Corporation's smart card will be available to private company agents instead of bus stations. Due to the upcoming Diwali holidays, a large number of travellers are expected to go out in the winters in lieu of tourism. As a result, the demand for ST trains is expected to witness an increase during this period. Therefore, in addition to the regular trains, according to sources, 1,000 additional trains will be run this year. Every year extra trains are released by ST Corporation on the occasion of Diwali. However, the number has not been announced this year as of now.
Moreover, the OTC (Over the Counter) Smart Card will be launched on the eve of Diwali to launch cashless travel in ST as per the Central Government's Digital India initiative. The card will include a travel wallet and a shopping wallet. You will need to register your name and mobile number with a private agent to get this card. On the other hand, the order issued by the corporation clarified that the private agent should be contacted for card recharge as well.
