In just two years since its launch, CIDCO’s Metro service on Line No. 1 (Belapur to Pendhar) of the Navi Mumbai Metro has achieved a significant milestone by reaching a total ridership of 1,15,28,297 commuters.

“The remarkable ridership of more than one crore in just two years reflects the overwhelming response from commuters. The Metro route has improved connectivity to offices, housing complexes, and industries in the Belapur, Kharghar, and Taloja areas. I am grateful to the people of Navi Mumbai for their support,” said Vijay Singhal, VC & MD, CIDCO.

CIDCO executed Line No. 1 under the Navi Mumbai Metro Project to strengthen the city's public transport system. Metro services on this line commenced on November 17, 2023.

To improve efficiency, CIDCO has revised the timetable so that trains now run every 10 minutes during peak hours and 15 minutes during non-peak hours in both directions between Belapur and Taloja. The fare structure was also reduced, with a minimum fare of Rs. 10 and a maximum of Rs. 30. These commuter-friendly measures have contributed to the record ridership achieved within just two years.

Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1 will be further extended from Belapur to NMIA. Line 2 is planned between Pendhar and Taloja MIDC, extending further to NMIA via Kalamboli and Kamothe, covering a total length of approximately 16 km.
