Various measures are being taken by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Transport to increase the financial income of transport. In this, commercial complexes of bus depots, use of electric buses in the fleet are being emphasised on increasing economic income. But at present the number of passengers of BEST is more than that of NMMT on Koparkhairane Vashi route due to the difference in ticket price of BEST bus. Therefore, it is necessary to take measures to increase the number of passengers on this route.

For the last four to five years, the ticket prices of BEST have come down to at least INR 5. Due to this, BEST buses are getting good response from the passengers and many passengers of NMMT have reduced. Therefore, the ticket revenue of NMMT is decreasing.

A total of 134 buses make 586 trips on the Vashi-Koparkhairane route of NMMT. There are 55 buses from Vashi railway station to Koparkhairane with 240 trips and 79 buses from Koparkhairane to Panvel, Nerul, Kalamboli, Taloja, Kharghar with 340 trips. Koparkhairane to Vashi travel by BEST bus costs only INR 10, while travelling by NMMT bus costs INR 20-25. Therefore, the journey of BEST, which is available at a low price, is becoming convenient for the passengers.

As a result, the number of passengers of NMMT is less on this route, which is affecting the income of NMMT. The current NMMT income is INR 36 to 40 lakhs per day. This revenue will further increase if the number of passengers on this route increases.
