WR to roll out nine more AC services by March 2019

Mumbaikars can now expect additional nine air-conditioned local trains by March 2019. This year, first of these nine trains will reach Mumbai by November and two more AC locals will be brought in by March. These local trains will be introduced on the suburban network after carrying out safety and trial runs.

The first and only AC local train in Mumbai began operating in December 2017 and within first five months, the AC local crossed 10 lakh passengers. In the month of March and April, over 3 lakh passengers commuted in the AC local.

The AC train currently plies between Churchgate and Virar and has a seating capacity of 1,028 and can carry 5,964 passengers.

Ravindra Bhakar, chief public relations officer of WR, said that the WR will increase the frequency of the train once the WR gets second AC rake.
