Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) has commenced the construction work of Dadar Underground Metro Station, under Metro Line 3. Therefore, the Mumbai Traffic Police on Wednesday, April 24, said that the key belts such as Gokhale Road Senapati Bapat Marg etc., will be heavily affected due to the closure of some spots. The new route will be implemented from today, April 25.

According to the statement, the MMRCL have provided the diversion till September this year.

  • Traffic between Lt Anna Tipnis Chowk – Steelman Junction to Gadkari Chowk – will be affected due to ongoing work and traffic will be diverted to avoid any inconvenience.
  • The north side of Gokhale Road – from Gadkari Chowk to Steelman Junction – will remain closed for all vehicular traffic. Southbound lanes will remain open as usual. However, both the borders will be declared as 'no-parking' to maintain free flow of traffic without any hindrance.
  • Vehicles will be prohibited from Senapati Bapat Putala (Circle) to Steelman Junction on Ranade Road as it will remain a one-way road.
  • Northbound vehicles on Gokhale Road from Portuguese Church should take a left turn at Steelman Junction and proceed via Ranade Road, Dadasaheb Rege Road, Gadkari Junction. Vehicles heading towards Dadar TT should take a right from Steelman Junction via Ranade Road, take a left turn at Panari Junction and proceed along NC Kelkar Road, Kotwal Garden to reach their destination.

Metro 3, also called Aqua Line by MMRCL, is a 33.5 km long underground corridor running on Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ. The length of the corridor is marked with 27 major stations, of which 26 will be underground and one will be elevated. Integrated testing of trains on the Aarey Colony-Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) route will begin soon next week.
