According to the latest reports, the Maharashtra government headed by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has vacated the stay granted by the previous MVA government led by Uddhav Thackeray on the Aarey Metro car shed. Previously, a day after the Shinde-led government had taken charge, it asked Advocate General Ashutosh Kumbhakoni to submit in court that the Mumbai Metro 3 car shed will be made in Aarey Colony

The same was planned in 2019 under the Devendra Fadnavis government. However, Thackeray has strongly objected to the decision. However, Fadnavis has paid no heed to it and is firm on his stance of building the metro car shed in Aarey Colony.

Fadnavis was quoted in accounts elaborating on how the Aarey Colony site has already been approved by the Supreme Court (SC). He claimed that at Aarey, 25 per cent of the metro car shed work has been completed and the remaining 75 per cent will be immediately done.

He reportedly added that whilst he respects Thackeray's suggestions, he had repeatedly informed him that his decision to scrap the metro car shed in Aarey Colony was not right. He voiced that he had urged Thackeray to keep his ego aside and let the car shed development transpire in Goregaon's Aarey Colony.

Based on narratives, Fadnavis objected to the Thackeray-led government's proposed land at Kanjurmarg because he alleged that it was under dispute. He also holds that even if it comes to the government, it will take four years to build a car shed there.

In the midst of this, MVA members, NCP and Congress have opposed the new government's resolution on reversing the MVA government's decision on the Aarey Colony car shed.
