Mumbai: Number of asymptomatic COVID-19 patients higher

According to sources, the number of asymptomatic COVID-19 patients is higher than the number of positive patients suffering from the coronavirus.

Mumbai’s civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), in a report has shared that the number of patients who are COVID-19 positive without symptoms is 6,878 whereas the number of people with symptoms is 4,128. However, the people with symptoms in the first week of March was half that of patients without symptoms.

Moreover, the number of critically ill patients is 373. Their percentage is 1. The death toll is 11,511 whereas the death rate in Mumbai is 3 per cent. In addition, Mulund, Andheri, Matunga, Bandra, Chembur East and West, Bhandup, Khar, Kurla are the areas where the increase is highest. The highest rate of doubling is in Mulund at 137 days, while in Andheri it is 147 days. The rate of doubling has been 159 days in Mantuga and 169 days in Bandra.

The duration of patient doubling is longer at Parel, Marine Lines, Elphinstone and Dadar. Parel has witnessed a doubling rate of 338 days, Marine Drive 312 and Dadar 303 days of doubling. In the city of Mumbai, the rate is 205 days.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackery has informed that strict lockdown measures will be enforced in some parts of the state to curtail the spread of COVID-19.

RC Division - 816, K West - 783, RS Division - 700, PN Division 688, K West - 687, T Division - 611, N Division 575.
