The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has told the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) that 92 per cent of the work on the 16 culverts through the Eastern Express Highway (EEH) has been finished, reported the Times of India. According to the report, information was not furnished about the Western Express Highway (WEH).

Based on the account, civic authorities claim that they were apprised about the nullah cleaning status through the eastern suburbs, but a comprehensive report was not submitted.

It has been reported that whilst the BMC undertakes desilting works of the drain, that under the EEH and WEH is done by the MMRDA. The narrative suggests that they are waiting for a report on the work done by the MMRDA.

This development comes in the midst of the opposition alleging a slow movement of the desilting works. In accordance with the data available on the BMC's Storm Water Drain portal, 91.41 per cent of the overall total pre-monsoon work has been completed.

Similarly, 73.42 per cent of the pre-monsoon work in the city has been finished. Likewise, that of the eastern and western suburbs stands at 86.87 per cent and 83.73 per cent respectively. The data claims that while minor works have been completed to 98.17 per cent that of the Mithi River is at 93.53 per cent.
