The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) today announced that vaccination at all government and municipal centres will remain closed for four days from Thursday, November 4 to Sunday, November 7.
This development comes in the wake of Diwali festival, which will be celebrated on November 4 and 5 as the corporation said that there was no shortage of doses.
Taking it to Twitter, the civic body also mentioned that the drive will resume on Monday, November 8.
Meanwhile, earlier in the day, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, while expressing his concerns over the dropped pace of COVID-19 vaccination, has set a target of completing 100% inoculation for first dose by November 30.
Moreover, Mumbai has jabbed nearly 99% of the target population and is inching closer to a 100% mark, with most of them having received at least one dose. However, the BMC is puzzled by the accurate number of citizens from Mumbai who have been actually vaccinated.
Besides, the Maharashtra government has taken a decision to slow down on procuring monoclonal antibodies. This antibody cocktail drug was found to be effective in preventing severe symptoms which can lead to hospitalisation and death of coronavirus patients.
