Bhima Koregaon violence update - Will arrest Milind Ekbote and Sambhaji Bhide: CM

On Wednesday, January 3, 2018, Dalit leader Dr. Prakash Ambedkar called for Maharashtra bandh where the aftereffects were seen across the state as well as in Mumbai.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured that he would arrest Milind Ekbote of Samast Hindu Aghadi, and Sambhaji Bhide of Shiv Pratishthan Hindustan confirmed Dr. Prakash Ambedkar in an exclusive interview with Mumbai Live. He said now he will wait until the arrest is made.

Violence erupted on January 1, 2018, at Bhima-Koregaon where three people lost their lives in a riot. On Tuesday evening, Ekbote and Bhide were booked by Pimpri Chinchwad police for inciting violence and carrying out riots. Despite FIR, neither Ekbote nor Bhide were arrested. This enraged Dalit workers who took their rage on streets during Maharashtra bandh. 

Meanwhile, on Thursday, Dr. Prakash Ambedkar met CM who assured of arresting Ekbote and Bhide. CM also assured that he will withdraw combing operation and in two-three days, a panel will be appointed who will look into the matter.
