On Monday, October 4, the city saw sunny skies after witnessing a heavy amount of rainfall last week. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has, however, predicted on Friday, October 1, light to moderate rainfall in the city and suburbs.
In the last 24 hours, the island city recorded 0.00mm rain, eastern suburbs recorded 0.00mm, while western suburbs recorded 0.02mm rain, as per the data shared by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Today, at 4.38 PM, a low tide of 1.25 metres was expected. During the low tide, the floodwaters in the city find an outlet to enter the seas.

Last week on Thursday, September 30, IMD had stated that during the four-month Southwest monsoon season from June to Sept, the country experienced normal rainfall.
However, according to the data compiled by IMD, a total of 435 countrymen had died due to extreme weather events, while Maharashtra recorded one-third of the deaths. From October to December, where the southern states receive rainfall brought by the Northwestern monsoon is likely to be normal, said IMD.
The withdrawal of the Southwest Monsoon from several parts of northwest India will take place around October 6, said IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra.
Reportedly, in 2019 and 2020, the rainfall was above normal. In 2019, the withdrawal of monsoon from northwest India started on October 9, said R K Jenamani, senior forecaster with the National Weather Forecasting Centre of the IMD.
