Part of a 5-storey building in Fort collapses

On Thursday, July 16, a building collapsed in Mumbai's Fort area. As per reports, the building is located near Lucky House and the incident was reported at around 4.30 pm. The building named 'Bhanushali' is a ground plus five-storey residential structure, and upon receiving the information four fire engines were sent to the spot for rescue operations.

At least two people have died in the incident while four others have been injured. The rescue operation is ongoing as people may be trapped under the debris.

In the afternoon, on the same day, part of a chawl in Malad's Malvani area collapsed. Six people were reported to be trapped under the debris out of which four were rescued. They were being treated at nearby hospitals. 

Mumbai has been witnessing severe rainfall over the last few days, and currently, the city is under orange alert. 

Besides these, three other incidents were reported in Mumbai over the last month, where structures had collapsed due to several reasons. One of it was at Grant Road in July, and two others structures - one in Kurla and the other in Khar - collapsed in June.

Update: Six people have lost their lives in this incident.
