Amidst the heavy rainfall on July 16, a portion of a chawl collapsed in Mumbai's Malvani area, in Malad. As per reports, at least four people were injured and few others were feared trapped under the debris. Fire brigade officials reached the spot immediately to rescue the people. 

The incident was reported at one of the old tenements near Malvani gate number 5, where a part of the three-storey chawl collapsed around 2.30 pm. The information was given by the fire brigade officials. 

Four fire engines, a rescue van and ambulances were rushed to the spot. Reports also state that nearly six people were trapped have been trapped, out of which four were rescued. They are undergoing treatment at nearby hospitals. The search operation is underway.

In the last month, three such incidents have been reported from various parts of Mumbai. On July 15, part of a dilapidated building collapses at Grant Road. In June, two structures collapsed in the city - one in Kurla and the other in Khar.

Mumbai has been witnessing heavy rainfall over the last few days, and the city has been under orange alert.
