BMC standing committee issues show cause notice to municipal secretary

After a dispute between the administration and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) standing committee on the proposal to choose a consultant for the coastal road, a show cause notice was issued to municipal secretary Prakash Jekte. The standing committee chairman Yashwant Jadhav issued a notice to the municipal secretary on Friday.

According to the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, if a proposal is not approved within 30 days of the first general meeting, it is believed that the proposal has been approved. The same thing happened in the case of the proposal of hiring a consultant for the coastal road.

The ruling party argued that the validity of the proposal was over when it was presented before the standing committee. However, as per the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, the standing committee issued a show cause notice to municipal secretary Jekte. Likewise, standing committee chairman Yashwant Jadhav agreed that he issued the show cause notice.
