Family of six dies on Mumbai-Goa Highway in a road mishap

Manjalkar family was very much excited to visit their native place – Konde (Rajapur) – for Ganesh Chaturthi. However, their trip ended in a fatal accident. 

On Tuesday, September 11, 2018, six members of the same family lost their lives in a road mishap on Mumbai-Goa Highway when their car collided with an oncoming bus from the opposite direction. As per the police officials, the private bus was on its way to Borivali.

Among the deceased were, Hanumant Manjalkar (34), Mansi Hanumant Manjalkar (30), Bhargavi Hanumant Manjalkar (6), Rajesh Babu Shivgan (24), Pankaj Hemant Ghanekar (25) and Priyanka Upalkar (21).

The Dahisar residents used to reside at Dnyaneshwar Nagar’s Rawalpada area. On Tuesday, they packed their bags and left for Konde Village (Shahpur), their native place. Around midnight, a bus driver of a private bus lost his control and hit the car. Such was the impact, that the car was crushed into pieces and the family died on the spot.

Bus commuters, Lau Upalkar, Mangesh Upalkar, Ankush Upalkar, Hanumant Upalkar, Sarthak Upalkar, Kiran Taral, Nitin Jadhav, cleaner Sandesh Kamble, were reported injured and are now recuperating at a hospital in Kolhapur.
