14-year-old girl molested on Mumbai-bound Deccan Queen Express

A 14-year-old girl was molested by 33-year-old Arvind Dutta in a running Mumbai-bound Deccan Queen Express. The accused has been arrested and will be produced in the court.

A family with their 14-year-old daughter boarded Mumbai-bound Deccan Queen Express from Pune for Mumbai darshan. On Thursday morning, around 10:00 am, accused Dutta — who was travelling in the same compartment — touched the girl inappropriately between Dadar and Matunga station. Seeing this, the girl raised an alarm and the co-passengers tried catching hold of the accused but he managed to run and locked himself in the lavatory of the train.

When the train reached Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSTM), the girl's parents informed Government Railway Police (GRP) who then forced Dutta out of the washroom and arrested him.

He has been booked under section 354 A (Sexual harassment and punishment for sexual harassment) of the IPC and under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
