Thane Anti-Extortion Cell arrested Tariq Parveen, a close aide of fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim who was wanted in Mumbra’s murder case from Mumbai’s Azad Nagar. He was also associated with 1993 Bombay blasts.

In January 2015, it took 15 years for Mumbai police to arrest Tariq Parveen and Mohammad Usman. However, in February 2015, both Dawood Ibrahim’s shooters got bail which was a huge setback for Mumbai police and Lucknow police.

Tariq Parveen was absconding after a murder case in Mumbra. Often the police tried to catch Tariq but he managed to escape the arrest. Tariq's arrest is considered to be a huge achievement as Dawood's brothers, Iqbal Kaskar and Farooq Takla are also behind bars.
