FYJC admissions have been a roller-coaster ride for the students as there have been delays in the declaration of merit lists, while on several occasions there have been technical glitches causing an atmosphere of panic amongst the applicants. However, as the admission procedure of special lists for the FYJC admissions has ended, there are still more than 50,000 students seeking admissions in the ‘first come, first serve’ basis merit lists.
While 47,576 students from Mumbai had applied for the special merit list and 38,567 students were allotted an option to secure admissions, only 22,297 students secured the admissions. The remaining 16,181 students did not go to college to secure admissions and 9,009 students did not get enlisted on the special list. So, these students will apply in the ‘first come, first serve’ basis merit lists.
However, on knowing the fact that the seats of reputed colleges are also vacant for the new list, thousands of students who had previously secured admission in other colleges now cancelled their admissions and applied for the ‘first come, first serve’ basis merit list.
Along with Mumbai, the admission process is ongoing in Pune, Nashik, Amravati, Nagpur and Aurangabad. The new round will be run at these places too.
When the special list was issued at these places, 58,643 students were allotted admissions. However, 30,440 students secured admission in the colleges and the remaining 28,075 students did not confirm admissions in the respective colleges. So now, apparently more than 50,000 students throughout the state will be applying for admission in the ‘first come, first serve’ basis merit list.
On August 25, the availability of seats for admission will be declared on the website.
