In recent developments, Maharashtra State School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad took to Twitter to inform about the evaluation criterion for the Maharashtra SSC examinations.
According to the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE), the students will be marked based on performance in internal assessments as the board exams were cancelled due to the outbreak of the coronavirus and the subsequent rise in cases.
Meanwhile, the results for the same is likely to be announced by mid-July. Moreover, the students will be evaluated based on their marks in Class 9 and 10, marks of both the classes with have 50 per cent weightage. In addition, of the total marks, 50 marks will be calculated based on the performance in class 9. The remaining 50 will be divided into two – 30 marks will be for the internal assessment of class 10 and 20 marks will be for practical or homework or assignments. Furthermore, educational institutions will have to submit the result to the board by June 30 and result evaluation will begin by July 3.
On the other hand, earlier on June 2, the Maharashtra government led by Uddhav Thackeray reportedly decided to cancel the Maharashtra board examinations for Class 12 students. Speaking about the same, Dr Niranjan Hiranandani, Provost, HSNC University expressing concern stated that, "It is pragmatic and a rational approach to call off the state board exam in wake of the detrimental resurgence of Covid wave. This decision comes in favour of de-risking the health of India's future and ascertaining that educational institutions can commence admission processes based on students past performance and well-defined criteria,"
