In Mumbai’s private hospitals, most newborns are delivered through a C-section rather than a normal delivery. In the view of this, Shiv Sena corporator Kishori Pednekar at BMC hall demanded that the statistics of children being born through a C-section and normal delivery should be shown at every private nursing home.

Currently, in every private maternity hospital, the delivery through surgeries has increased remarkably in numbers. It has been reported in the National Family Health Survey.

The Shiv Sena corporator said that pregnant women can die during surgery and if not, it can increase the complications in future such as infection, permanent health problems, and more.

Pednekar informed that the increase in surgeries is because of the financial benefits to the private hospitals and also, the lack of experienced and trained medical experts has caused the increase in C-section during pregnancy.
