Mr India 2017: Prathamesh Maulingkar’s journey from Football to Fitness model

Beauty pageants have given many budding models a new dimension in life, eventually making them a celebrity. One such contest which has given India, the best looking men, is Mr India. This year too, the contest saw 16 handsome men from different parts of the country, giving their best for the coveted title.

One among the 16, who made a mark and won Mr India Supranational is footballer turned fitness model from Goa, Prathamesh Maulingkar. Born in 1991, the 26-year-old enthusiast was the only footballer in Asia to get featured on the cover of one of India’s popular fitness magazines.

Prathamesh, an ardent fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, follows the football legend for his hard work and dedication. As per reports, he wanted to be a cricketer, but his interest in sports took him towards football, after which he made his entry into the Dempo U-16 team and then represented Goa U-19 in junior nationals.

He gave up football after an injury, and after a lot of hard work, he stepped into modelling, which brought him to this esteemed stage today.

He was also seen on MTV’s popular reality show Splitsvilla in season 8, along with Prince Narula who won the season. He was one of the 16 contestants on the show, along with Gaurav Arora (now Gauri Arora), Utkarsh Gupta and others.

Mr India 2017 finale was held at Bandra Fort, and Jitesh Singh Deo was given the title of Mr India, who will now represent India at Mr World 2020. Tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi and Queen of Bollywood, Kangana Ranaut presented the title to Prathmesh.
