Maharashtra Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Ashok Chavan on Thursday said that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will take the final call on the resolution against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) on the lines of Punjab and Kerala.
We met and discussed our role in the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi government. Several issues were discussed including CAA, NRC among others,” senior Congress leader Ashok Chavan said.
Chavan further said that their opposition will also be registered. As far as NPR is concerned, a decision will be taken by the Congress Working Committee (CWC) on the same.
On the matters of CAA and NRC, Congress has decided that they will follow the resolution passed by its working committee and will oppose the same.
As there is a coalition government in Maharashtra, the final call will be taken by the Chief Minister regarding the passage of an ordinance against CAA.
Earlier, it was decided to form a coordination committee for the smooth functioning of the Uddhav Thackeray-led government in Maharashtra.

In the committee, two ministers each from Shiv Sena, Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) have been appointed. From Congress, Balasaheb Thorat and Ashok Chavan while Ajit Pawar and Jayant Patil represent NCP.
