"We don't have the numbers": Devendra Fadnavis resigns as Maharashtra CM

Only four days after swearing-in as Maharashtra Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday announced his resignation. This comes moments after Ajit Pawar resigned as Deputy CM. 

Fadnavis announced his resignation during a presser at Sahyadri Guest House on Tuesday afternoon.

While talking to the media, Fadnavis said that he will go to Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari. “My best wishes to the government which will be formed,” said Fadnavis.

As Ajit Pawar resigned as Deputy CM, Fadnavis further informs that they don’t have the numbers to form the government. 

Earlier today, the Supreme Court pronounced judgement on Maharashtra government formation ruling to conduct a floor test on November 27 through open ballot by appointing protem speaker.

On Saturday (November 23), ‘Rebel’ Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar joined hands with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and sworn-in as Deputy Chief Minister. The oath was administered by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at Raj Bhavan.
