Ahead of Maharashtra Assembly and Lok Sabha elections next year, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA Jitendra Awhad on Friday met Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray at the latter’s residence. This meeting has raised some eyebrows in the political circle.

The meeting between the two went on for around 45 minutes. However, the reason for the meeting is still unknown. Awhad also tweeted regarding the same.

For the upcoming polls in 2019, all the political parties have launched their political campaigns. With the pre-announced alliance between Congress and NCP, the talks about seat sharing are going on. On Friday, NCP and Congress also conducted a meeting. However, NCP MLA meeting with Uddhav Thackeray is an important development to note.

The opposition aims to form a mega-alliance in order to defeat Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming elections. However, each opposition party, including NCP and Congress, is also busy using their political techniques to gain more share of seats.

With the visible differences between Shiv Sena and BJP, this meeting also questions that if NCP is trying to pressurise Congress in order to get more seats.
