Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Monday voiced support for activist Sonam Wangchuk's protest over the alleged NEET examination irregularities and demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, holding the Centre accountable for the controversy.
Addressing the media in Mumbai, Thackeray said the issue concerns the future of lakhs of students and deserves support beyond political affiliations. He questioned why the Union Education Minister had not stepped down despite widespread allegations surrounding the examination process.
Expressing concern over Wangchuk's ongoing hunger strike, Thackeray appealed to the activist to take care of his health, stating that individuals raising issues in the public interest should not be forced to risk their lives to draw attention to students' concerns.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) chief also announced that his party would stage statewide protests on July 20 over the alleged examination irregularities. He said the matter would continue to be raised at various forums and urged opposition parties to unite in support of students seeking a fair and transparent examination system.
