Congress’ star leader Urmila Matondkar had earlier submitted her resignation from the party over “in-house politics” while alleging betrayal. However, the media reports suggest that the actor-turned-politician met Milind Narvekar, who is a professional assistant to Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray.

This has fuelled speculations of her joining hands with Shiv Sena ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections scheduled in mid-October. However, Matondkar has dismissed the speculations while calling it a “courtesy meeting”.

I am not joining any other party so it’s a kind request to the media to kindly not to share whatever they hear. It is unfair towards me to say the least and also not appropriate towards any party” Urmila Matondkar clarified in a statement.

Congress is witnessing the mass exodus of its party members, several senior leaders have either joined Shiv Sena or Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Maharashtra. Earlier, Congress’ top leader Harshvardhan Patil had joined BJP in the presence of Chief Ministere Devendra Fadnavis.

In a statement, Urmila Matondkar stated that she has resigned from Congress. Matondkar accused the former Mumbai Congress President Milind Deora for overlooking the concerns she had raised in a letter on May 16 while alleging betrayal after her confidential letters were leaked in the media.
