Bollywood celebrity-turned-politician Urmila Matondkar on Tuesday resigned from Indian National Congress (INC) citing disappointment over "in-house politics". However, Matondkar lost the election from Mumbai North Lok Sabha constituency against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Gopal Shetty.
Matondkar, who became a star candidate and campaigner of the Congress during the LS polls alleged that she was used as a means to fight in-house politics.
"My political and social sensibilities refuse to allow vested interests in the party to use me as a mean to fight petty in-house politics instead of working on a bigger goal in Mumbai Congress," said Urmila Matondkar in a statement while quitting the party.
While talking to Mumbai Live, Matondkar further informed that she has not decided her future actions.
Infighting is part & partial of every organisations. We must fight against this instead of giving up.

I had cautioned @UrmilaMatondkar long ago & told her not to get into it & have patience.
Its unfortunate that she has resigned. Request her to rethink over her decision.
