In a recent development, Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray has urged the Bombay High Court to hear his plea before making any decisions regarding the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation into the deaths of actor Sushant Singh Rajput and his manager, Disha Salian.

The Supreme Court and High Court Litigants' Association of India, led by its president, Rashid Khan Pathan, had submitted a plea in September, calling for Thackeray's immediate arrest and interrogation while in custody. As of now, the High Court has not scheduled a hearing for Thackeray's plea.

On October 13, Thackeray, through his lawyer, Rahul Arote, argued that the PIL should not be considered as the subject was already under investigation. The PIL specifically requests a CBI inquiry into former Maharashtra Minister Aaditya Thackeray and demands a thorough report on the matter.

The matter stems from Sushant Singh Rajput's death on June 14, 2020, in his suburban Bandra residence. At the time, the Mumbai police initiated an Accidental Death Report (ADR) investigation, while Rajput's father filed a complaint with the Bihar police. His father alleged that Rajput's girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, and her family played a role in his alleged suicide.

Eventually, the case was transferred to the CBI, which is currently overseeing the investigation. Simultaneously, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) launched an inquiry into reports of narcotics usage and alleged distribution to Rajput by Rhea. Additionally, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is examining allegations of money laundering involving Rhea and her family.

Disha Salian, Rajput's former manager, also died on June 8, 2020, falling from a fourteenth-story building in Malad's suburbs. The police had registered an ADR in relation to this case.
