In the last couple of weeks, the D-Mart store in Mumbai’s Andheri East was found flouting several norms with regards to the COVID-19 protocols.
According to reports, on Thursday, March 25, the D-Mart store was sealed by the K East AMC Mr Prashant Sapkale. BMC Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal, acting on these supermarkets being the super-spreaders of the coronavirus, passed an order to seal the store completely.
Moreover, the store is to be sealed till the end of the pandemic, as informed by the Central Government, according to the new guidelines issued by the Maharashtra Government amidst the second wave of COVID-19. In the past, the Kalyan-Dombivali store of D-Mart was sealed where it was found that five employees who were found to be COVID-19 positive were still working in the store. If reports are to be believed, several such checks are planned against D-Mart and if similar violations are found then they are to remain sealed similarly till the end of the pandemic.

In another recent incident, fifteen passengers who were found violating COVID-19 norms on the domestic flight are likely to be banned for three months by the carriers. This comes amidst the spike in cases of coronavirus across the country which poses the inherent question as to why people feel it is okay to endanger not only other people’s lives but one’s own.
