Thane: Fire breaks out at industrial unit in Badlapur

The blaze erupted around 4.15 am at Karwai Naka, MIDC, Badlapur East. As soon as the fire was reported, four fire engines from Ambarnath and Badlapur MIDC rushed to the spot and doused the flames.

A major fire broke out at an industrial unit in Badlapur MIDC of Maharashtra's Thane district early on Saturday, March 27.

According to reports, no one was injured in the incident. The blaze erupted around 4.15 am at Katai Road, MIDC, Badlapur East. As soon as the fire was reported, four fire engines from Ambarnath and Badlapur MIDC along with five jumbo water tankers rushed to the spot to douse the flames.

Santosh Kadam, who heads the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), said that the fire was brought under control after two hours of efforts. However, the cause behind the blaze is yet to be ascertained.

Moreover, another fire incident took place at the hills surrounding the famous Jivdani temple in Virar (east) on Friday night, March 26. 

Besides, at least 11 people were killed after a major fire broke out at a private COVID-19 hospital in Mumbai's Bhandup area in the early hours of Friday, March 26.

The incident took place at Dreams Mall in Bhandup of Mumbai that houses the Sunrise Hospital on the third floor. However, it has come to light that the fire that was classified as a level-3 or level-4 broke out on the first floor of a mall at 12:30 am.
