A major fire broke out at a godown of electric wires in Mumbai’s Prabhadevi area on Saturday morning, March 27.

According to reports, at least 15 fire tenders and jumbo water tankers rushed to the spot and firefighting operations are underway. The fire was later classified to level 3 (major fire) by 8.47 am.

No casualty has been reported as of now, informed fire brigade officials on the spot.

The level-three fire was reported at 5.42 am in a godown located at the basement of a ground-plus five-storey facility at Veer Savarkar road in Prabhadevi.

Meanwhile, the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and the probe is underway.

The incident comes a day after a massive fire in a COVID-19 hospital in the city’s Bhandup area. Eleven patients, of whom six were on the ventilator, died in the fire at the Sunrise Hospital, located inside the Dreams Mall on Friday, March 27.

Moreover, another two fire incidents took place in the last 24 hours. A major fire broke out at an industrial unit in Badlapur MIDC of Maharashtra's Thane district early on Saturday, March 27. Besides, a fire occurred at the hills surrounding the famous Jivdani temple in Virar (East) on Friday night, March 26. Fortunately, no casualty has been reported in both incidents.
