For the health of Mumbaikars, for the cleanliness and beauty of Mumbai, the cleanliness movement is not limited only to the Municipal Corporation employees and officials. Participation of every Mumbaikar is necessary for the mass movement, said Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.


He said that the sanitation workers of Mumbai Corporation are working round the clock to keep Mumbai clean, beautiful and healthy. It is because of them that Mumbai is clean and beautiful and the sanitation workers are 'true heroes' and we all should support them. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has launched a complete cleanliness drive (Deep Clean Drive) for a pollution-free and clean, beautiful Mumbai. 


After the launch of this campaign from Dharavi by the Chief Minister on December 3, the second phase of the Total Sanitation Campaign was launched in the eastern and western suburbs of Mumbai on December 12 in the presence of Chief Minister Shinde. The cleanliness campaign started by garlanding the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Juhu Chowpatty. On this occasion, the Chief Minister himself inspected the cleanliness by running the beach cleaning machine.

He was accompanied by School Education Minister and Guardian Minister of Mumbai City District Deepak Kesarkar, Andheri West MLA Amit Satam, former minister Deepak Sawant, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Shinde said, due to the large amount of manpower and various types of advanced technology based machines and vehicles being used for the cleanliness drive, the area is getting cleaned in a short period of time. This also makes people develop the habit of keeping the area clean.
