On Tuesday morning, March 9, a massive fire broke out at a plastic factory in the Asangaon area of Thane. According to sources, as soon as the fire was reported, 12 fire engines rushed to the spot.

According to preliminary information, the incident took place at Krishna Promotion Company near Padgha village.

Thane Municipal Corporation's Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) chief, Santosh Kadam, said that the it took hours to douse the fire. Due to the presence of plastic items, the fire spread quickly in the premises. Two fire engines from Navi Mumbai (Koparkhairane and Airoli) and a jumbo water tanker were also rushed to the spot. 

However, no one has been injured in the incident. The cause of the fire is yet to be known but investigations are being carried out. 

On Monday evening a huge fire broke out in an office building in central Kolkata's Strand Road. As many as nine people have been killed in this fire. These include four firemen, a police officer, a Railways officer and a security person. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has expressed grief over the incident and ordered a high-level probe to ascertain the cause of the fire. PM Modi too has expressed his grief and shared prayers for the speedy recovery for those injured in the incident.
