A high-profile missing person case took a grim turn as the Nagpur city police, in collaboration with Jabalpur police from Madhya Pradesh, apprehended the husband of Sana, also known as Heena Khan, a prominent figure within the Nagpur BJP. Sana had vanished without a trace on August 2, sending shockwaves through the local community.

Confession and Discovery

In a shocking revelation, Amit Sahu, alias Pappu, aged 37, confessed to the crime, divulging that he was responsible for Sana's disappearance. A report published in the Indian Express stated that the police uncovered the disturbing information that Sahu had killed Sana and disposed of her body in the nearby Hiran river. The authorities, aided by National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel and local police, are currently engaged in efforts to recover the remains from the river.

Marital Discord and Financial Strain

Sana, aged 34, was a notable member of the Nagpur BJP minority cell and had recently married Amit Sahu, alias Pappu, on April 24, 2023. The couple's relationship had been marred by financial disagreements, which seem to have played a pivotal role in the unfortunate incident. Sources close to the family indicated that Sana had grown suspicious of Sahu's handling of funds related to their joint business venture, the Ashirwad dhaba in Jabalpur.

Timeline of Events

Details surrounding the sequence of events leading to Sana's disappearance gradually emerged. On August 1, following a heated argument with Sahu over the phone, Sana embarked on a journey to Jabalpur. She arrived at her destination the following morning, communicating with her son Altmash in Nagpur before seemingly vanishing without a trace. Subsequent attempts to reach her were unsuccessful as her phone remained switched off.

Distressed Family's Efforts

Concerned over Sana's sudden disappearance, her mother, Mehrunisha Mobin Khan, a Congress social activist residing in Nagpur's Gorle Layout region, filed a report regarding her missing daughter on August 3. The last known location of Sana was traced back to Sahu's residence. The investigation took a significant turn when an employee at Sahu's dhaba revealed that he had cleaned a car stained with blood under Sahu's instructions.

Arrest and Revelation

After diligent efforts spanning six days, the authorities finally managed to apprehend Amit Sahu on a Friday. Sahu's shocking admission painted a distressing picture. He revealed that a heated argument on the morning of August 2 escalated tragically, leading to Sana's demise. Allegedly, Sahu struck Sana multiple times with a wooden baton, ultimately causing her death. In a disturbing turn of events, Sahu, alongside his accomplice Rajesh Singh, then transported the body to the Hiran river, approximately 40km away, and disposed of it from a bridge. Sahu's vehicle, a WagonR, was seized as evidence.

Allegations of Financial Misappropriation

Investigations further uncovered Sana's apprehensions that Sahu was misappropriating profits from their dhaba venture for undisclosed purposes. Consequently, the charges against Sahu have been expanded to encompass sections 302 (pertaining to murder), 201 (related to the destruction of evidence), and 34 (associated with common intention).
