Pandit Sandeep Mahavir booked for cheating,matter settled in court

Eminent Kathak exponent Sandeep Mahavir who was  booked for cheating has settled the matter in court by depositing an amount of Rs.1,50,50,000/- in the Registry of Court. It is also stated that when the anticipatory bail application was pending before this court, that time, the business man has received a sum of Rs.10 lakhs by cheque.

The court stated, "Since the petitioner and respondent No.2 have settled the dispute and even the amount is deposited by the petitioner, no fruitful purpose will be served by continuing the investigation of the subject case."

About the case:

Earlier, Sandeep Mahavir was charged for cheating a South Mumbai based businessman of Rs 1.70 crore.The businessman approached Mahavir to teach his wife Kathak. As per the agreement, Mahavir taught the wife kathak for two hours every day at Shah's residence on Marine Drive. Mahavir asked the businessman to invest in his shows and events assuring him of bigger returns. Mahavir started ignoring businessman after receiving the payment.

Businessman finally filed the complaint against Mahavir in Marine Drive police station. Mahavir has been booked under IPC sections 406 and 420.
