Post the raids at Shiv Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik’s house, the Sena leader has requested the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for a week’s time to appear before it.

Sarnaik, requesting for a week’s time stated that he was in COVID-19 quarantine. Moreover, his son Vihang is with his wife, who has been hospitalized due to hypertension. However, both of them are expected to appear before the ED coming week.

Earlier on Tuesday, November 24, the ED carried out searches at the offices and residential premises of MLA Pratap Sarnaik and a private security firm in connection with a money-laundering investigation. In the case registered under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 10 locations in the areas of Mumbai and Thane were raided. According to sources, the agency seized electronic evidence including a computer. Moreover, Sarnaik's son Vihang was taken to the ED office in Mumbai and was interrogated for nearly five hours.

The Shiv Sena MLA had earlier initiated a breach of privilege motion against Arnab Goswami, Republic TV Chief for his comments against Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and other ministers in the state. Moreover, he had also sought a re-investigation in the suicide case of Anvay Naik for which Goswami had been arrested earlier.

Meanwhile, Sarnaik, speaking about the raids earlier on Wednesday, November 25, had stated, “In the last few days, I have raised my voice against Kangana Ranaut and Arnab Goswami in the Assembly, used my rights and pursued the re-investigation of the Naik suicide case. This action is being taken against me by the troubled BJP. I had expected such a thing to happen.” Sarnaik further added that if Maharashtra and Mumbai are defamed in the state and the country at large, then he will speak out on the same regardless of the consequences.
